Set up OrgSpec for Jira

Before you start

You need:

  • A Jira Cloud site.
  • Jira Software projects and boards.
  • Permission to install apps on the Jira site, or help from a Jira admin.
  • A Jira account that can see the projects and boards you want to scan.

The current version reads data as the current Jira user. It does not use persistent Forge storage and does not send data to Orgonaut or any external service.

Install

  1. Open the Atlassian Marketplace listing for OrgSpec for Jira.
  2. Install the app on the intended Jira Cloud site.
  3. Review and accept the requested read-only Jira scopes.
  4. Open Jira.
  5. In the Jira sidebar, open Apps.
  6. Select OrgSpec for Jira.

Permissions

The app requests read-only scopes for:

  • Visible Jira projects.
  • Visible Jira Software boards.
  • Sprint metadata for sprint-capable boards.
  • Selected issue metadata fields used for OrgSpec evidence.

The app does not request:

  • Jira write permissions.
  • Admin write permissions.
  • Forge storage scope.
  • External fetch or egress permissions.
  • Billing permissions.
  • Orgonaut API access.

Confirm the app is ready

Before scanning:

  1. Confirm the app is running on the intended Jira Cloud site.
  2. Confirm the current Jira user can see the projects and boards to include.
  3. Confirm the site has at least one board with issue data.
  4. For sprint evidence, confirm at least one Scrum board has sprint data.

Data boundary

The app reads project, board, sprint, and selected issue metadata.

The app does not read issue descriptions, comments, attachments, worklogs, compensation data, HRIS data, Jira groups, Atlassian Teams, Compass, Confluence, or Orgonaut data.

Downloaded exports may contain Jira account identifiers. Treat exports as internal organisational data.

Troubleshooting setup

If the app does not appear:

  • Confirm installation completed on the intended Jira Cloud site.
  • Confirm the current user has app access.
  • Reopen Jira and check the Apps menu.

If a scan returns no projects or boards:

  • Confirm the current user can open the expected projects and boards in Jira.
  • Ask a Jira admin to review app installation and permissions.

If sprint evidence is missing:

  • Confirm the board is sprint-capable.
  • Kanban and simple boards may not support sprint lookup.
